Kayak Type
Infoteket rents out both 1-person kayaks and 2-person kayaks. The kayaks are sturdy and can withstand the rocky conditions along Lake Mjøsa. Additionally, they are very stable, so even paddlers with little experience will feel safe.
When can I rent?
The rental season starts around June 1st and lasts until the end of September. Exact dates depend on the weather and water temperature. The water temperature must be above 10-12°C for safety reasons.
Note: Rentals are closed when the wind speed exceeds 7 m/s.

At Infoteket, you can rent a kayak without a wet card, but you must paddle with at least one other adult person and stay close to shore. All renters must be sober, and there is a requirement that you can swim.
What is included in the price?
A life jacket and paddle are always included in the rental price. Wetsuits, dry bags, or other equipment can be rented for an additional fee.
Meeting point
We are located at Helgøya, in the middle of Lake Mjøsa. If you arrive by car, you can park for free in a large parking lot by Infoteket. If you travel by public transport, take a taxi from the train station in Brumunddal.

Seasonal Notice
From around October 1st to June 1st (depending on weather conditions), the water in Lake Mjøsa is too cold for paddling with just a wetsuit. There is a significant risk of hypothermia in case of a capsize. During this period, our kayak rentals are closed. Feel free to contact us if you’re unsure about the conditions!
